The housing estate was totally devoid of life,as Jennings suddenly appeared out of nowhere,just as he'd emerged likewise in the port.
Despite the absence of people,Jennings knew they were here.Indeed,he could see them.Three young girls in their late teens,cowering in one of the houses.It was his latest mission to protect them,and get them to safety.
It was just at that moment,when Jennings heard the menacing howl of one of the alien tripods.He instinctively turned to face the source,and he immediately saw three of the alien machines advancing rapidly into the estate.He could see they'd detected the girls,and were preparing to seize them.
Quickly,he scanned the house and could see it had a basement,and he rapidly moved into the house to assist the girls.
It was actually in the basement where the three girls were.They had heard the awful sound of the tripod,and were hiding in a corner of the basement,praying for a miracle.
It was then they heard a man's voice,and they heard it in their heads.
Don't be afraid.I'm here to help.Please stay still.
One of the girls was known as Kelly,a very pretty twenty year old,whose head slowly lifted up to look at her friends:Sarah and Jane,also in their early twenties,who had mirrored Kelly's expression.
"Wh-wh-wh-who are you?" Kelly whispered,the terror fully evident in her voice.
A friend.Jennings' voice responded.Don't be scared.
By now,he could see one of the tripods now standing outside the house,and it was now deploying some kind of portable camera.It looked like some kind of giant snake,and it was heading towards the basement.
Wait here please.Jennings thought to them calmly.I'll get rid of them.
Satisfied the girls were staying put,he then headed to where the alien device was now coming in.Jennings could see it had a very powerful light,knowing also it was designed to intimidate.
He was perfectly invisible to it,and he'd made sure the girls were too.He watched it carefully,ready to counter any threatening move it might make,but so far,it hadn't spotted the concealed girls.
Yet,it still kept probing and it wasn't giving any sign of leaving.Jennings glanced upwards at where he knew the tripod was,and could see the humanoids determined to catch the women.He'd have to do something.
It was then he noticed the snake-like camera had now positioned itself,barely inches away from the cowering girls,and he immediately acted.
Silently,he picked up a small pebble and threw it away from the girls position.The pebble struck the floor with barely a sound,but the alien device immediately turned sharply,and it raced to the source.
The moment it did and when it was well away from the girls,Jennings used his laser eyes to shatter the camera's head.It suddenly collapsed onto the floor,totally useless.He then watched the remains of it being hastily withdrawn,and he knew he had to act fast.
Quickly,he then knelt down beside the three whimpering girls and placed his arms around them all.
It's okay,he thought to them again,always sensing their fear.Trust me.
And with that,Jennings and the three girls disappeared from the basement altogether.
They emerged well away from the deserted housing estate,and Jennings was pleased to see two of his friends from his own planet waiting for him.Both wore milirary uniforms,and both were female.Kelly,Sarah and Jane were looking at him in shock,but before they could ask or say anything,his two female friends spirited them away.
Satisfied the girls were now safe,Jennings raced back to the housing estate.The tripods were still there,and be could see the baffled anger on the tripod's crew.He resolved to finish them.
He made sure the metal baskets located on the back of the machine were empty.He'd witnessed many young women being abducted by the tripids before,and knew what that sinister purpose was for.It made him more determined to eliminate this menace.
He could see that the humanoids had now given up on finding any more people,and were now preparing to leave in search of more easier victims.
As the tripod began to walk away from the estate,Jennings calmly walked out right in front of them,before he stood still waiting for them to see him.When they did,he was brilliantly lit up by the tripod's blinding lights.It would have made any normal human cover their eyes,but Jennings remained unmoved,calmly watching the alien machine stooping itself menacingly to him.
Another snake-like camera protruded from the tripod to hover above his head.It made to prod him,but Jennings grabbed the device and he hissed his own menacing message in the aliens tongue.
"Now it's your turn to be terrified!" Jennings almost snarled at the camera device,now trying to break free from his grip." I'm going to enjoy hearing you all scream!"
Instantly,he placed his hand onto the metal of the tripod structure,and there was a sudden discharge of lightning bolts enveloping the machine.Inhuman shrieks were now fully audible,which grimly satisfied Jennings.He kept his hand on the structure,before he could see the humanoids bodies.inside their now tomb.
"Mission accomplished,my lady." Jennings reported.
Immediately,the image of the beautiful woman he'd abased himself too on his home planet became visible to himself.She was pleased.
"Excellent work,my son." The woman reponded."Now you will proceed to your next objective..."
